Teaching has become an important aspect in the artistic research work of shifts. Related to each project of s h i f t s the involved artists give workshops at universities, studios or theatres, sharing their present artistic preoccupations with others in practice. These teachings may result in performances or lectures. In these workshops, participants and s h i f t s share a common event and each participant is invited to confront his personal skills with the ideas offered. s h i f t s also offers training in release technique, imagery work, contact improvisation, composition, focusing on the development of dramaturgy in movement. Places where s h i f t s artists have been teaching include: ArtEZ Arnhem (NL) dance makers course, Dartington College of arts - UK, Korean National University of Arts - Seoul choreographic department, Seoul Institute of the Arts Theatre Department, Ernst Busch Hochschule für Schauspielkunst, Tanzfabrik Berlin, Labor Gras Berlin, Universität der Künste Berlin Theatre Department, MA Choreography of HZT Berlin, Session House Tokyo, and elsewhere.
